NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – (April 8, 2026) – The Langley for Families Foundation announced the recipients of its first giving cycle of 2026 – a total of $278,500 donated to 37 nonprofit organizations serving those in need across the communities served by Langley Federal Credit Union. When combined with the charitable contributions of the credit union, a total of $495,000 was distributed to 56 nonprofits in April.

All grant awards focus on the Foundation’s three charitable focus areas: access to education, healthcare, and housing & human services. The Foundation’s grant selections reflect a continued commitment to strengthening the communities Langley serves by investing in organizations that provide critical resources and support to families in need with 29 nonprofits receiving a grant in the amount of $10,000 or more.

“We are very proud to support these 56 remarkable nonprofit organizations that are showing up every day for those in need. Poverty is not just a financial condition — it is a cycle that can feel impossible to break without access to the right resources and support,” said Jerome Fowlkes, Chief Impact Officer of Langley Federal Credit Union and Board Chair of the Langley for Families Foundation. “The organizations we are supporting this giving cycle are helping individuals and families not just survive, but find a true path forward. At Langley, we are committed to standing alongside the communities we serve, because we know that when we invest in the people and organizations breaking that cycle, everyone is better for it.”

The Langley for Families Foundation will host a total of four giving cycles in 2026, with the deadline for applications for the second giving cycle of the year due on June 12, 2026.
