NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – (August 27, 2025) – The Langley for Families Foundation announced the recipients of its second giving cycle of 2025 – a total of $438,000 donated to 55 nonprofit organizations serving those in need across the communities served by Langley Federal Credit Union. The Foundation announced this giving cycle marks a milestone achievement in grant giving with a total of $7.79 donated to nonprofit organizations since the launch of the Langley for Families Foundation in 2014.

“The Foundation’s established community investment goal was to donate a cumulative $7.5 million to nonprofits by 2026 – a goal that was surpassed by nearly $300,000 as a result of this giving cycle. We are deeply grateful to Langley’s members, employees, and business partners whose generosity have made this impact possible.” said Jerome Fowlkes, Langley’s Chief Impact Officer and Vice Chairman of the Langley for Families Foundation.

All grant awards focus on the Foundation’s three core program areas – access to education, healthcare, and housing & human services. The Langley for Families Foundation shared that the impacts that federal budget cuts are having on the nonprofit sector were considered when determining grant awards.

“Langley and the Langley for Families Foundation remain committed to supporting organizations and initiatives that are positioned to sustain and strengthen their services during this period of uncertainty.” said Mr. Fowlkes. “Many nonprofits are facing difficult decisions such as scaling back programs or limiting the number of families they can serve. In a time of great need, our foundation stands in solidarity with our nonprofit partners, offering support to help them meet extraordinary challenges. We invest in their success to help them better serve our neighbors.”

The Langley for Families Foundation will host a total of three giving cycles in 2025, with the deadline for applications for the third and final giving cycle of the year due on November 14, 2025.
